Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Steers 20, 33, 35, 217, 220 and 222 plus cow 215 were all munching on heather in the area around ///fenced.nervy.rules at 15:40 this afternoon.  Older steer 21 was on the other side of the path also eating heather.  Despite the freezing cold conditions, they all looked well and seemed happy enough.

Steers 30, 219, 228, 230, 270 and 271 were spread out grazing in the area around ///hours.aboard.adopt at 16:00.  They, too, were busy eating heather.  Older cow 940 was munching on grass at the side of the path, on the opposite side of the gorse bushes to the others.  Steer 227 was close by.  Shortly before 16:15, cow 214 came wandering along the side of the path from the south-east.  She mooed as she got close and started to graze.  Older cow 72 came out of the gorse bushes around ///stolen.camera.keys at 16:20.  She soon wandered along to join the others.

Returning to the first group, who had moved to the area around ///apart.areas.blotting at 16:40, I found the missing cow 234.  Not sure where she was earlier, but I was happy to have found her before it got completely dark.

The cows were all good today.
