Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Monday 6th May - All 26 seen

Sussex steers 197, 210 and 1640 plus cows 211 and 212 were all grazing on the cow's favourite Sandy Hill corner at 17:50 this evening.  They were all enjoying lots of fresh grass.  The cows were all happy and relaxed.

I was having a good look around for the other two Sussex cattle, when I ran into steers 219, 227, 230, 270 and 271 plus cow 234 around ///pelt.diary.hurt at 18:00.  They were spread out grazing on the Sandy Hill slope.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

Older steers 20 and 21 were munching on leaves from the bushes alongside the path on the southwest side of Horse Pond at 18:20.  I was just walking away after checking them, when I saw steer 35 in Horse Pond munching on plants.  He was fully in the pond with his legs totally submerged.  He was fine though and was enjoying his dinner.  Older steer 21 soon wandered along and watched him from the side of the pond.

Steers 33, 217, 220, 222 and 228 plus cows 72, 214 and 215 were all found grazing amongst the trees in the area around ///stone.coffee.think at 18:35.  They were well spread out but were all happy.  I eventually found steer 30 and cow 940 grazing in the thicket to the northeast around ///urgent.soaks.rare at 18:55.  They were both good.

Walking back in the direction of Horse Pond, I met steers 20, 21 and 35 again around ///waters.joys.liners at 19:05.  I found Sussex cow 1396 and steer 1626 grazing in the thicket around ///attic.users.biked five minutes later.  They were grazing with the cows from the second group.  The other five Sussex cattle were grazing to the south, on the Sandy Hill slope, around ///joked.chose.rust a short time later.

The cows were all good this evening.  I was surprised at how dry they all were, bearing in mind it had rained most of the day.
