Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 12th May - All 26 seen

Youngsters 228 and 230 were found at Horse Pond at 09:25 this morning.  It appeared they had become separated from their group and were mooing trying to find them.  They weren't getting any answers to their calls, so they decided following me was a good idea.

We wandered northeast towards the Royal Pavilion end of the site, and soon caught up with cows 214, 215 and 234 plus steers 227 and 271.  They were standing, relaxing under the trees around ///ground.tries.mess at 09.40.  The boys were pleased to be reunited with their friends, with youngster 230 giving me a nice head rub before standing and receiving a back rub.

Steers 20, 21, 30, 33, 217, 219 and 220 plus cows 72 and 940 were all happily grazing in the pasture to the southeast around ///quick.vocal.gaps at 09.55.  They were all relaxed and enjoying the warm sunshine.  They were all looking well.  Cow 940's left ear was still the same today, as it was yesterday.  The group of seven soon wandered up and started to graze.  It was lovely to spend some quiet, relaxing time with them.

Sussex steers 210 and 1640 plus cow 212 were found grazing very near the Gelvert fence line around ///video.plea.perch at 10:40.  The other four Sussex cattle, steers 197 and 1626 plus cows 211 and 1396, were found in the thicket to the west of the covered reservoir, around ///idealist.flaked.closes fifteen minutes later.  All seven were happy and looking well.

After a big circle of the site, I eventually found the final three steers in the area around ///chase.toned.cross at 11:45.  Older steer 35 was busy grazing.  Yearling 270 was resting under the shade of a tree, with youngster 222 grazing close by.  Steer 222 very quickly lay down in a nice cool spot and started to relax and chew his cud.  Yearling 270 came and lay down beside him.  The boys were good.

The cows were all good today.
