Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Sunday 5th May - All 26 seen - are the Caesar's herd due to be sprayed for ticks and fly soon?

Sussex steers 197, 210 and 1640 plus cows 211 and 212 were grazing in the sunshine around ///laces.elbow.armed at the Shell garage end of the site at 08:50 this morning.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.  Cow 1396 and steer 1626 were found a bit further east, munching on leaves from the bushes on the Odiham Road fence line ten minutes later.

Steers 30, 33, 217, 220, 222 and 228 plus cows 72, 214, 215 and 940 were all spread out grazing in the area around ///refer.cloud.usual at 09:30.  They had recently climbed up the hill from the area down by the Bourley Road.  By 09:55 they had all gathered under the trees at the Lookout where they started to relax and chew their cud.  There was a gentle breeze blowing, which was keeping them cool and keeping a lot of the flies away.

Steers 20, 21, 219, 230 and 271 plus cow 214 were grazing around ///bats.stems.waltz just along from the currently closed Bourley Road car park.  They were munching on lots of green grass and leaves.  They were all looking well.

The final three, steers 35, 227 and 271, were found lying down resting in the area around ///clapper.feels.watched at 10:45.  They were all okay but were really struggling with the large number of flies in their vicinity.  Steer 227 was regularly stretching out, trying to get some respite, while yearling 271 was constantly rubbing his face in the bracken beside where he was lying.

The cows were all good today.  Are the Caesar's herd due to be sprayed for ticks and fly any time soon, please?
