Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 25th May - All 25 seen

The seven Sussex cattle had wandered east along Sandy Hill and were just reaching their favourite corner as I arrived at 09:30.  They were all enthusiastically munching on fresh grass in the warm sunshine.  They were all friendly and came and said hello.  Steer 197 and cows 211 and 212 enjoyed ear rubs.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking really well.

Youngster 230 and yearling 270 were standing under the trees at the Lookout at 09:55.  The other sixteen originals were lying down just behind them.  They were mostly huddled together, relaxing in the sunshine.  Cow 214 and steer 227 were sitting off to the side.  Youngster 220 soon got up and took a break from the sun in the gorse bushes, but soon came back out and said hello.  The cows were sharing the Lookout with a large number of squaddies, who were taking a break from their training.

Over the next forty-five minutes, all the cows got up and had a stretch before gathering beside the trees at the Lookout.  They had all been resting, either relaxing and chewing their cud or having a little snooze.  All the soldiers had left by around 10:30.   The cows soon wandered round to the pasture around ///tulip.situation.dude where they munched on some heather before descending the side of the hill.

Cow 940's ear was looking better today than it did on Thursday, but it still looked infected.  I know the grazing team tried very hard to remove the old metal tag from her ear, but it may be it needs to come out for things to fully clear up.  Brie was fine today though and came and said hello.

The cows were all good today.
