Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 1st June - All 25 seen

Steers 20, 21, 30, 33, 35, 227 and 270 plus cows 72 and 940 were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud on one of the grass islands in the sandy bowl at 09:45 this morning.  They were all happy and looking well.

The seven Sussex cattle were all huddled together lying down in the bracken around ///fell.stuck.cakes at 10:10.  Steer 210 and cow 212 were having a little snooze.  The others were all relaxing and chewing their cud.  They were all looking good.

The final nine cows were all found lying in the heather on the hill to the northeast of Horse Pond around ///knots.cigar.gloom at 10:25.  Steers 217, 220, 222, 228, 230 and 271 plus cows 214 and 234 were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Youngster 219 was sound asleep, but woke up after about ten minutes.  This group were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

There didn't appear to be much change to the lump on youngster 228's face today.  The good news is it doesn't appear to be getting any worse.  He was chewing away quite happily on his cud.  Cow 940's ear didn't look much different either.  Photos below of both for reference.  Hopefully, the grazing team can get over on Tuesday to check them out.

The contractor continues to make great progress with the new fence.  The vast majority of the fence is now up, but needs securing to its rails.  It looks like the new gates are ready to be fitted too.

The cows were all good today.
