Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 9th June - All 25 seen

The original eighteen Caesar's cows hadn't long arrived at their favourite Sandy Hill corner when I met them at 09:55 this morning.  They had wandered along from the west.  They were initially all resting in the warm sunshine, with several chewing their cud.  They quickly started to lie down and relax.  A few, steers 35, 230, 270 and 271, topped up on fresh grass before lying down.  Yearling 271 was a hungry boy today, and didn't stay lying down for long, preferring to enjoy some more of the lush grass from the pasture opposite.  The cows were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

Brie's (cow 940) ear was looking good again today as it continues to heal.  A new picture is included below.  There was no noticeable difference to the lump on Gary's (steer 228) face.  It certainly doesn't appear to be getting any worse, and it isn't impacting his ability to graze or chew his cud.

Six of the Sussex cattle were found among the trees to the west of Horse Pond at 10:40.  Steer 1626 was munching on grass among the bracken around ///pizzas.stunts.elect.  They didn't stay in the trees for long, with all seven joining up before heading west along the main path.  They were enjoying lots of grass from both sides of the path as they went.  They got to the area around ///asked.bridge.hoping just after 11:00, with several of the group heading up onto the slope of Sandy Hill to graze some more.  They were all happy and healthy today.

Returning to the first group again soon after, and they were all lying down relaxing in the sun except for yearling 271 who was continuing to graze.  I sat with them for a bit before saying goodbye around 11:30.

The cows were all good today.
