Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

The eighteen original Caesar's cows were all widely spread out grazing in the pasture around ///doubts.hero.bets at 17.30 this afternoon.  They were all enjoying lots of grass and heather.  By 17:50 they had started to lie down to relax and chew their cud.  Several of the cows had buried themselves in the heather and bracken.  I have absolutely no idea where yearling 270 disappeared to.  I suspect he had buried himself deep in the bracken somewhere, but despite numerous circuits of the area, I couldn't find him to check him.  The other seventeen cows were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

Brie's (cow 940) ear was looking much better today.  Yesterday, her wound was a little angry after her ear tag had been removed.  But it was really starting to heal and looked very clean today.  She was also much happier and came to say hello.  There was no noticeable change to the lump on Gary's (steer 228) face today.  It was not stopping him from grazing or chewing his cud.  Below are a few photos for reference.

Six of the Sussex group were found grazing around ///chimp.forge.giggles at the Shell garage end of the site at 18.50.  They were all initially grazing, but soon stopped to have a drink from the large pools of water.  They then stood in the sun and chewed their cud.  Steers 197 and 210 plus cow 211 came and said hello and received ear rubs.  I received some licks on my hand from cow 211.  At 19:10 steer 1626 made an appearance, having wandered into the area from the path to the southeast.  The cows all started to graze again before climbing up the steep bank to the northwest to graze the pasture above.  Cow 211 had gone off grazing by herself, and had to wade through a deep pool of water to get back to the others.  All seven Sussexes were good today.

Circling back to the first group again at 19:35, and they had started to get up and wander west in ones and twos to graze in the area around ///dent.warrior.brisk.  The good news was that yearling 270 had re-appeared and was happy and looking well.

The cows were all good this evening.
