Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Seventeen of the Caesar's originals were found in the area around ///blurts.cats.swarm at 15:45 this afternoon.  Half the group were happily grazing, munching on lots of grass.  The other half were relaxing and chewing their cud, with some standing among the swathes of bracken.  They were all looking well.  The cows slowly wandered southeast, coming together on the slope of Sandy Hill, where they all continued to graze.  There were a number of flies around today, but they weren't causing the cows too many issues.  Brie's ear looked good today, and Gary's lump looked the same as before.  New photos below for reference.

I had just started to say goodbye at 16:20, when I heard some mooing in the distance. I went back and saw steer 227 over on the hill opposite around ///tidy.notch.imply.  He was trying to find his herd mates.  I called him a few times, and he saw me and began walking towards me.  My calls also caused a few of the other cows to moo, which re-assured him he was on the right path.  He got to around ///predict.affair.vowel not long after, where he stopped and said hello.  He was happy to receive a neck and ear rub.  The other cows all wandered down to see him.  After a bit, they slowly wandered off into the trees at the side of Horse Pond.  Steers 227 and 230 preferred to go and stand in Horse Pond, cooling-off, while they chewed their cud.  I said cheerio just after 16:45.

The seven Sussex cattle were found around ///wolves.wake.tango at the Shell garage end of the site.  They were all munching on fresh grass in the warm sunshine.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.  Cow 211 took a break and wandered over to say hello.  She then thoroughly enjoyed a long back rub.  When we were done, she gave my hand a few licks and rubbed her head on me to say thanks.

The cows were all good today.
