Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 16th June - All 25 seen

Six of the Sussex cattle were grazing in the thicket around ///cabbies.punt.aged at 10:10 this morning.  They were enjoying lots of grass from around the bracken in the warm sunshine.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.  Ten minutes later, I heard some mooing in the distance and walked northwest to find steer 197 wandering north in the pasture opposite.  I think he'd lost track of his herd mates.  I called him, and he walked towards me, spotting his friends.  He stood on the higher ground at ///sector.absent.dome waiting for the others to cross over and join him.  They soon did, and the group all started to graze together.

Steer 21 was grazing by himself in the area around ///grace.loaf.think at 10:35.  He was nice and relaxed and enjoying lots of long grass.

The seventeen other Caesar's originals were lying down, relaxing in the pastures on the other side of the path.  Twelve were lying down around ///cure.eggs.intent.  The other five, cows 214 and 234 plus steers 217, 270 and 271, were lying down in the pasture on the other side of the track.  All seventeen were looking well and enjoying the sunshine.  Cow 940's ear continues to heal nicely.  There was no change in steer 228's face today.

By 11:00, steer 21 had joined the group of five and was lying down and resting.  There were a lot of flies around today, but they weren't causing the cows too many issues.  Occasionally, they would get up, stretch, and reposition before lying back down again.  Youngster 230 got up and came over to see me.  He then thoroughly enjoyed a long back scratch.  The cows were all still lying down and relaxing when I said goodbye just after 11:30.

The cows were all good today.
