Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 13 July 2024

Saturday 13th July - All 25 seen - 3-year anniversary of the youngsters arriving!

Steers 20, 219 and 227 plus cow 214 were all standing in the trees to the west of Horse Pond at 09.45 this morning.  They were relaxing and chewing their cud.  Cow 214 wandered through the trees to say hello and was happy to receive a long back rub.  Steer 219 enjoyed a head rub.  They were all happy and looking well.

The other fourteen Caesar's originals plus Sussex steer 1626 were lying down in the area around ///drank.twee.proves just along from the Lookout at 10.15.  They were either relaxing and chewing their cud or having a snooze.  There were lots of sleepy cows today.  They'd occasionally get up and have a stretch before lying back down.  They were all good.

The six other Sussex cattle were all lying down in the trees to the east of James Bond pond at 10.40.  They, too, were all relaxing and chewing their cud.  There were a lot of flies around trying their best to bother the cows.  All six were looking well.

It is three years to the day since the youngsters first arrived at the Ceasars and Gelvert reserves. The six steers from the original eleven yearlings, Gimli (217), Gilbert (219), Gethin (220), Guiness (222), Gary (228) and Gums (230), remain on Caesar's. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching them all grow up, and I hope they will stay for many more years to come!

The cows were all good today.
