Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 6th July - All 25 seen

Steer 20 and cow 72 were standing under the trees, sheltering from a heavy shower, around ///woes.legal.quite at 11:00 this morning.  Steers 21, 30, 35, 219 and 227 plus cow 214 were all grazing in the surrounding thicket.  They were enjoying lots of bramble, despite all being wet.  Youngster 219 had nice clean legs today 😊.  They were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

Cows 234 and 940 were lying down under the trees around ///broken.zone.lights at 11:25.  They were both relaxing and chewing their cud.  Steer 33 was doing the same a little further north.  Youngster 217 and yearling 271 were grazing in the surrounding gorse bushes.  They were all good.

Sussex cow 211 plus steers 197, 210, 1626 and 1640 were all found to the west of James Bond pond around ///feuds.wimp.diets at 12:05.  Steer 210 and cow 211 both came out onto the path to say hello.  Cow 211 enjoyed a long back scratch and gave me many head rubs and licks as a thank-you.  The boys were grazing in the surrounding area.  They were all happy and looking well.

Sussex cows 212 and 1396 were lying down under the trees around ///breathed.tint.rips at 12:35.  They were both relaxing and chewing their cud.  Despite being away from the others, they were both fine and seemed happy to be sheltering from the rain.

I went off in search of the five missing steers and ended up back at the Royal Pavilion end of the site at 13:05.  The first and second groups had joined up, and the five missing boys were with them.  Most of the cows had started to gather around ///cult.quite.hops.  Youngsters 220, 222 and 228 plus yearling 270 were happily grazing in the surrounding area.  Youngster 230 needed a bit more hunting down and was found eating deep in the thicket with steer 35 and cow 234.  The five boys were all well.  I also got to see Brie (cow 940) walking, and she was good.  I said goodbye to the gang at 13:30.

The cows were all good today.
