Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Tuesday 2nd July - All 25 seen - steer 21 has lost his left ear tags

Sussex cow 1396 was lying down relaxing around ///composes.sits.tidal at 16:40 this afternoon. Cows 211 and 212 plus steers 210 and 1640 were standing close by. They were all relaxing and chewing their cud. Steers 197 and 1626 were grazing a little to the north, eating the grass growing among the dense bracken. Cow 211 was her usual friendly self and gave me some head rubs and licks before enjoying a back scratch. The Sussexes were all happy, relaxed and looking well. The original eighteen Caesar's cows were all together in the trees to the west of Horse Pond at 17:00. They were all relaxing and chewing their cud. Several were friendly and came over and said hello. Steer 227 enjoyed an ear and neck rub. Youngsters 220 and 230 went for a paddle in the pond. By 17:30, a few of the cows had started to lie down and rest. Cow 940 moved around in the trees a few times before lying down. She was still limping, but it didn't seem as bad as last weekend. Hopefully, her foot is getting better, but definitely one to keep an eye on. There was still no change to the lump on youngster 228's face. This group were all happy, relaxed and looking well too.

Steer 21 has lost his left ear tags since the weekend. The cows were all good today, and it is hoped that cow 940 is on the road to recovery.
