A mixed group of fourteen cows were resting in the trees to the west of Horse Pond at 17:20 this afternoon. The seven Sussexes were with the three British Whites and Shetland steers 20, 30, 33 and 219. They were all relaxing and chewing their cud. Youngster 219 was standing in the water. Despite there being a lot of flies, the cows were all happy and looking well. Cow 211 came and said hello, and steer 227 enjoyed a back and neck rub.
After about twenty minutes, the seven Sussexes wandered off through the dense gorse bushes and started to graze on the slope of Sandy Hill. I noticed that steer 1640 has a couple of bald patches on his left hindquarters.
The other eleven cows were all found around ///price.protest.hides near Beacon Hill Road at 18:05. Nine were lying down and relaxing under the trees. There were a lot of flies bothering this group too. Older steer 35 plus yearling 271 were initially standing together under the trees, but soon wandered out to the southwest where they started to graze. Youngster 230 got up and had a stretch before coming over to say hello and receiving a back rub. They were all looking good. There was a large army presence, with lots of shooting and explosions, off to the northeast.
The cows were all good today.
