Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 7th July - All 25 seen

Sussex steer 1626 was wresting with a branch in the area around ///snippet.late.irony at the bottom of Sandy Hill at 09.55 this morning.  Steer 30 and cow 940 were grazing close by.  Sussex steer 210 was initially standing chewing his cud under the cover of the trees, but he soon lay down and started to relax.  Steers 21, 197 and 1640 plus cow 211 were all eating grass from among the bracken to the south.  They were all happy and looking well.

The other fifteen originals were found at the Lookout at 10:20.  Just as I was approaching, a prolonged and heavy shower was passing over.  Eleven cows were standing under the trees, sheltering from the rain.  Steers 20 and 33 were standing under their own tree on the other side of the path to the south.  Cow 72 and steer 220 were sheltering in the gorse bushes behind the boys.  The group of eleven graciously allowed me to stand with them until the rain stopped.  Several came over and said hello and received ear and back rubs.  They were all good.

Sussex cows 212 and 1396 were grazing in the thicket around ///quote.serve.quick at 10:50.  They were enjoying lots of grass.  They must have sheltered in the nearby bushes, as they were dry.  The girls were looking well.  The group of fifteen had started to follow me after I said my goodbyes.  As such, they all met up with the girls and me about fifteen minutes later.

Before leaving the site at 11:30, I checked on the first group again.  The four other Sussxes plus cow 940 were lying down in the area around steer 210.  Steer 21 was standing, chewing his cud to the side.  Steer 30 was lying down in a bush to the northeast.

The cows were all good today.
