I had some spare time this afternoon, so went back over to Caesar's. A mixed group of twenty-two cows were found in the area around ///hush.motive.rarely at 16:20. Five of the Sussex cattle were lying down in the trees to the northwest. Older steer 21 was having a scratch against a tree close by. It was good to check him properly after not having the opportunity this morning. Steer 1640 was very friendly and came and said hello and received a head rub. There is no change to the bald patches on his rear quarters. The others were all relaxing and chewing their cud, but soon started to lie down and rest. The cows were all happy, relaxed and looking well despite being bothered by numerous flies.
Older steers 33 and 35 plus yearling 271 were resting in the trees to the west of Horse Pond at 16:50. They, too, were getting bothered by many flies. After ten minutes, they all left the trees. When they got onto the path, they had a good look around and started to moo. Sensing they may not know where the others were, I persuaded them to follow me. They were soon re-united with the others, with them all mooing several times to signal their arrival.
While I was at Horse Pond, the seven Sussex cattle had headed off into the distance, climbing up the hill to the southwest. Steer 21 had accompanied them, but he was on his way back.. I said my goodbyes to the group at 17:30.
The cows were all good this afternoon.
