Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Monday 16th October - All 19 seen

Cows 20, 35, 215, 217, 219, 228, 234 and 271 were all happily grazing in the area around ///oils.like.loves at 16:00 this afternoon.  They were all enjoying the fresh grass.

Older steers 21 and 33 were found lying down together around ///patch.juices.rejoiced at 16:25.  They were relaxing and chewing their cud.  Youngsters 214 and 227 were grazing in the area behind them.  They soon came and lay down beside the boys.

Cows 30, 72, 220, 222, 270 and 940 were found grazing in the valley around ///diets.plays.mimic at 16:40. They slowly made their way to the sole tree, where they began foraging for acorns.

I went to each group a couple more times looking for the missing youngster 230, but I couldn't find him.  The first group had moved down to the area over the foot bridge in front of the cow shed, where they were hunting for acorns.  The second group of four were grazing in the valley that the third group had been found in.  The third group were all grazing deep in the bracken around ///wand.retrial.arch at 18:20.

Despite it being dark, I finally found youngster 230 grazing around ///lost.flattery.task at 18:45.  The other eight cows were grazing close by.  He was totally fine and completely unaware of my relief at finding him.  I have no idea where he had been hiding the first couple of times I'd checked that group.

The cows were all good tonight.
