Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 21st October - 16 seen

Youngsters 214, 215, 217, 219, 220, 222, 230 and 234 plus yearlings 270 and 271 were all spread out hunting for acorns in the area around ///spill.corn.foster at 09.30 this morning.  They were all rather damp but seemed happy and relaxed.

Older cows 72 and 940 were found grazing amongst the thicket in the area around ///aimed.lizard.churn at 10.10.

Older steer 20 was found munching on grass alongside the main path around ///marsh.cliff.visit at 10.30.  Steers 33 and 227 were close by, hunting for acorns under the trees on the side of Sandy Hill.  After a long search of the surrounding area, I found steer 21 amongst the thicket on the opposite side of the path at 11.10.

After searching, but not finding steers 30, 35, or 228, I circled back round to the area where I'd found the first group of cows at 11:50.  Just after I arrived, there was a heavy downpour, which caused the youngsters to abandon their grazing and congregate under the trees at ///speak.basket.rots.  Older cows 72 and 940 came out of the nearby thicket and joined them.  They were all really wet.  After a while, all twelve cows wandered down to the cow shed, where they started hunting for acorns in the area just in front of it and also in the area just over the little foot bridge.

The sixteen cows that were found were good today.
