Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Older cows 72 and 940 were lying down relaxing in the area around ///slave.salt.twist at 16.15 this afternoon.  Older steers 20 and 30 were standing just behind them.  It looked like they hadn't long got up.  Youngster 230 and yearling 271 were munching on grass on the patch of the grass diagonally opposite them.  Youngsters 215 and 219 were doing a spot of hill climbing, hoovering up acorns that had fallen from the overhanging trees close by.

Steer 35 was found lying down, relaxing and chewing his cud at ///plank.motel.pinch high above the others a short time later.  Steer 33 was grazing in the thicket close by.  Older steer 21 was hunting for acorns under some trees around ///reply.photo.cling.  Steer 33 wandered along and joined him.

The seven youngsters, 214, 217, 220, 222, 227, 228 and 234 plus yearling 271, were spread out in the area around  ///rant.stays.ladder at 16:50.  They were all happily munching on grass.  They slowly converged around the tree at ///puts.ultra.wades where they all started to forage for acorns.

The group of eight cows slowly wandered east down the valley, grazing along the way, before joining up with the other eleven cows in the area around ///will.flush.tripods at 17:30.  They didn't stay together for long though, with cows 20, 214, 217, 222, 227, 228, 230 and 234 all wandering down to the trees around ///image.cats.locked at 18:00 where they began hunting for acorns.

The cows were all good today.
