Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Steer 21 and cow 940 were hunting for acorns around ///silks.heavy.fire at 15:30 this afternoon.  Older steer 33 was lying down relaxing and chewing his cud around ///began.lots.lakes a short time later.  Steer 227 was grazing close by and soon wandered over and lay down next to him.  Steers 20 and 228 were munching on heather not far from them.  Cow 72 was foraging for acorns at the nearby trees.  Older steer 30 was lying down by himself on the other side of some gorse bushes.  The cows were all rather damp, but were happy and relaxed.

Youngsters 214 and 217 plus yearlings 270 and 271 were found grazing amongst the bracken around ///dips.tripods.knitted on the other side of the site at 16:15.  Youngsters 222 and 230 were munching on grass around ///bakers.herds.haunt ten minutes later.  Youngsters 215, 219, 220 and 234 were all munching on grass amongst the bracken on the other side of the path a short time later.  The first four cows soon wandered along and joined them.  All ten cows had started to climb up the hill to the area just along from the Lookout when the heavens opened, and I said goodbye.

Despite the heavy rain showers, I headed back in the direction of the first group to see if I had missed older steer 35 during my initial search.  Turned out I had, and he was grazing with steer 30 in the bushes around ///sheep.player.task at 17:10.  The other cows were all searching for acorns under the trees on the opposite side of the path.

The cows were all good this afternoon.
