Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 10th October - All 19 seen

Cows 35, 72 and 940 were munching on leaves from the trees just inside the gate at the Bourley Road car park at 10.05 this morning.  Older steer 21 was close by, standing in the trees relaxing and chewing his cud.  Older steer 20 was doing the same in the trees nearer the cow shed, with steer 30 munching on long grass close by.

Cows 214, 220, 227, 228, 234, 270 and 271 were all inside the cow shed, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Older steer 33 was standing just outside.  By 10.45 the six older cows had wandered over to the cow shed and had claimed their spots inside.

The breakaway group of five, cows 215, 217, 219, 222 and 230, were found munching on grass and hunting for acorns in the area around ///dove.timed.strong at 11.15.  They slowly wandered over to the trees at the east side of James Bond pond, where they rested for a bit.  Youngster 222 went and had a drink from the pond while the others emerged and continued to graze and search for acorns around ///sample.cringes.slot.  They were all very relaxed and looking well.  Youngsters 215 and 219 wandered off in a south-westerly direction towards the junction of Longbotton and Sandy Hill, leaving the other three grazing.

There was a contractor in a mini-digger who appeared to be clearing scrub in the area around ///blink.yard.charcoal just along from the Lookout around noon.

Returning to the first group at 12.20, and they were all grazing in sunshine in the thicket around ///stews.calm.finds.  They weren't in the slightest bit bothered by the large camouflaged army presence in the trees beside them.

The cows were all good today.  Despite the cooler conditions, there were a lot of flies around, though.
