Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 14th October - All 19 seen

Cows 215, 217 and 940 were hoovering up acorns from the path just along from their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 10:00 this morning.  Cows 20, 21, 30, 33, 35, 72, 219, 220, 227 and 270 all came wandering along Sandy Hill from the west and started to graze in the pasture just before the corner.  They were all enjoying munching on the grass in the sunshine.  Older cow 30 disappeared into the gorse bushes.  Several of the cows crossed over the path and started to graze on the corner.

I decided to head west along Sandy Hill to see if the other six were lagging behind, which turned out to be the wrong decision.  After walking around the site, cows 214, 222, 228, 230, 234 and 271 were found grazing amongst the trees on Hungry Hill at 11.20.  They were all very relaxed and looking well.  Some of the cows from the first group could be seen in the distance, wandering in their direction.

Youngster 222 went grazing down the side of Hungry Hill to the area around ///value.milk.dose where cows 20, 21, 33, 35, 72 and 219 were all hunting for acorns under the trees at 11.40.  The remainder of the cows slowly descended the hill in ones and twos and joined in.  Youngsters 217 and 222 decided to have a lie down around ///defend.pram.trash at 12:05 while the others continued to graze.  After a while, the cows all slowly wandered along to the area around ///spill.corn.foster where they continued to graze and hunt for acorns.

The cows were all good today.
