Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 7th October - All 19 seen

A mixed group of thirteen cows were spread out and happily grazing in the area around ///spite.half.into at 09:40 this morning.  They were mainly munching on grass and leaves from the trees, while occasionally stopping to undertake in some foraging for acorns.  The cows were all very relaxed and looking well.  It was lovely to see Gypsy (steer 227) back with this group - thanks Tom for rescuing him.  He wandered over and said hello, giving me a couple of head rubs.   The cows continued to graze in this area before starting to assemble in the trees around ///surely.holly.mile at 10:40.

The other six cows, youngsters 215, 219, 220 and 228 plus yearlings 270 and 271, were all grazing in the pasture opposite their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 11:00.  They were all munching enthusiastically on the fresh grass in the warm sunshine.  The red patch on cow 215's left armpit was starting to fade.  They reached the corner and about turned, continuing to graze west along Sandy Hill.  They were all happy and relaxed.

Returning to the first group at 11:40 and twelve cows were lying down in the shade of the same trees they were found in earlier.  Several were having a snooze, with the others relaxing and chewing their cud.  Older steer 33 was lying down by himself in the area opposite around ///rots.locals.soft.

The cows were all good today.
