Thirteen of the Caesar's originals plus the four British Whites were all grazing in the area around ///town.pill.pits at the Royal Pavilion end of the site at 09:50. Most were enjoying lots of fresh grass, with a few preferring to be in the thicket eating bramble. They all appeared to be enjoying the warm sunshine, but unfortunately, it brought the flies with it. The cows were all happy and looking well. Just before 10:40, the cows wandered off south towards the trees around ///noble.dollar.value. Older cow 72 had what appeared to be a red bite mark on her underside. It didn't appear to be causing her any issues though.
Sussex steer 210 plus cows 211 and 212 were found munching on grass at the Shell garage end of the site around ///resist.shorts.gobbling at 11:15. They had many flies on them. Sussex cow 1396 and steer 1626 were found grazing amongst the trees around ///pull.leads.viewer twenty minutes later. After a while, the first three came and joined them. They were all good.
Older steers 21 and 33 plus Sussex steers 197 ad 1640 were lying down resting on their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 12:20. They all had a large number of flies on their faces and eyes. They were constantly shaking them off. Steer 197 soon got up and walked over to say hello, rubbing his head on me before receiving a long ear rub. This provided a brief respite. The other three boys got up soon after that. They had a stretch and stood for a while, before they slowly set off west along Sandy Hill.
Appreciate that flies and ticks are part of a cow's life, but they were really getting bothered by them today, particularly the four on Sandy Hill. Are they due to be sprayed at some point soon? Other than that, the cows were all good today.
