Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 6th April - All 26 seen

Eight of the Caesar's originals plus the four British Whites were grazing in the area around ///soaps.things.banks at 09:40.  The other seven originals, steers 21, 33, 219, 220, 222, 270 and 271, were on the other side of the path in the area around ///fleet.flop.smiled.  Older steer 21 was lying down, relaxing.  The others were grazing in the heather close by.  Slowly, the group of twelve came through the gorse bushes and joined the others.  All nineteen cows were happy, relaxed and looking well.

At just after 10:00, most of the cows set off on a wander.  Although fairly well spread out, they all ended up in the area around ///safari.boxer.apart where they met up with the seven Sussex cows.  They had all been lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud, but soon got up.  On the whole, it was a friendly reunion, with the occasional bit of headbutting and some pushing and shoving going on amongst the boys.

After a while, they all headed northeast towards the Lookout, grazing as they went.  The wind had really started to pick up by now.  Steers 30, 33, 35 and 217, who had been far more interested in grazing at the first location, re-joined the herd at 10.40.  The cows soon made it to the Lookout, where they stood under the trees and started to relax and chew their cud.

Most of the cows wandered round to the area around ///ushering.along.model at 11:10 where they continued to graze amongst the heather or stood and chewed their cud.  The seven Sussexes, cows 214 and 215 and steer 222 all disappeared into the gorse bushes.  I caught up with them around ///sung.dare.delays at 11:20.  The seven Sussexes soon wandered off southwest towards James Bond pond, with the other three going northeast to return to the main herd.

The cows were all good today.
