Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 20th April - 24 seen

Cow 215 and steers 227 and 271 were happily munching on grass on Sandy Hill around ///walls.pats.causes at 09:50 this morning.  Sussex steer 210 was grazing to the east around ///crate.dreamers.tennis.  Steers 21, 197, 219 and 1640 plus cows 72, 212, 214, 234 and 940 were spread out grazing on the slope below.  By 10:20, most of the cows had climbed back up the hill and had started to gather around ///dream.broth.cyber where they began to relax and chew their cud in the sunshine.  Cow 72 plus steers 210 and 219 continued to graze all the way to the west end of Sandy Hill, only to turn around and wander back.  They were all looking good.

Sussex steer 1626 was found grazing in the thicket around ///normal.warp.dusts at 10:40.  Steers 20, 33, 217, 220, 222, 228, 230 and 270 were all found at the top of the hill around ///baths.play.barman.  They all slowly emerged from the thicket and began to graze on grass and heather.  At 11:10, six of the steers walked over to James Bond pond, where they had a paddle before drinking some water.  After they were done, they climbed back up and started to graze again.  This group were all looking good too.

I then set off on a long walk looking for the missing four, steers 30 and 35 plus cows 211 and 1396.  I couldn't find them, though, and ended up back at the second group at noon.  They were spread out and continued to graze further southeast from where they were found earlier.  I then returned to the first group, who were still in the same spot but had been joined by steer 1396 at 12:15.  Most of the cows were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.

I continued walking east along Sandy Hill and was surprised to find older steers 30 and 35 grazing on the slope by the pill box at 12.30. They were both looking well. Sadly, the girls, cows 211 and 1396, were not with them. I continued searching for them until just after 13:00 without any success.

The cows that were found were all good today.
