Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 9th April - All 26 seen

Cows 72, 215 and 940 plus steers 20, 35, 220, 222, 227 and 270 were spread out grazing in the area around ///politics.asks.putts at the Shell garage end of the site at 16:00. Judging by the amount of stretching and rubbing of heads against trees going on, it appeared they hadn't long got up. They were all happy and relaxed and looking well.

Steer 21 was with Sussex cows 211 and 212 plus steers 197 and 210 in the area around ///held.denim.pillows at 16:35.  They were all enjoying lots of grass.

Steers 30, 33, 217, 219, 228 and 271 plus cows 214 and 234 were all grazing in the thicket to the northeast of Horse Pond at 17.00.  They all slowly moved to the area around ///work.ruffle.galloped where they continued grazing.  They were all looking well.

Sussex cow 1396 and steers 1626 and 1640 were found grazing to the west of James Bond pond around ///ratty.front.animate 17:55.   They were happy and relaxed.  Five of the cows from the first group were grazing fairly close by, but they showed no interest in each other.

Slightly concerned that I hadn't found youngster 230, I went off for another look.  I found him grazing by himself around ///just.ogre.oven at 18.45.  He was absolutely fine and came and said hello.  Not sure where he had been hiding earlier.  The other cows from the third group were grazing to the southwest, but they wandered along to meet up with him at 19:05.

I noticed today that a number of the cows had ticks on their necks and around their front legs.  They were only sprayed a month ago, so not sure how long the protection lasts?

The cows were all good today.
