Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 16th April - 24 seen

It was four seasons in one day on Caesar's this afternoon/evening.

Cows 72, 214, 234 and 940 plus steers 20, 270 and 271 were grazing on Sandy Hill in the area around ///slides.clef.cages at 16:20.  They were mostly all enjoying fresh grass, with cow 72 extending her neck over the fence to eat some bramble.  A couple of the cows had tick bites, but other than that they were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

Steers 30, 35, 227 and 228 were found grazing on the slope of Sandy Hill around ///uproot.forgiven.wove at 16:35.  Steer 227 took a break from grazing to come and say hello and receive an ear rub.  This group were all looking well.

Steers 217 and 230 were found at the far west end of Sandy Hill at 16:50.  Youngster 230 was enjoying some grass in the sunshine.  Youngster 217 seemed far more concerned about finding his herd mates.  He mooed loudly a couple of times, but no one answered.  The boys had started to set off east along Sandy Hill when I left them.

Cow 215 plus steers 219, 220 and 222 were grazing around ///welfare.pats.agency near the water tower at the Shell garage end of the site at 17:05.  They were all happy and relaxed.  After a short while, youngsters 217 and 230 turned up and joined them.  They must have about turned and wandered through the woods to find this group.  When I left them, they had followed the path to the northwest and were about to disappear into the thicket.

The seven Sussex cattle were found grazing in the area around ///walking.slugs.quiz,  under and to the northwest of the Lookout at 17:30.  I was happy to see them back together after steers 197 and 1640 were on their own on Sunday.  They were all happy and relaxed.  Steer 197 came and said hello and received an ear rub, while cow 211 came and said hello and gave my hand several licks.

Despite a long and extensive search, I wasn't able to find older steers 21 and 33 today.

The cows that were found were all good today.  It would be so nice if they would all come back together.
