Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 16th December - All 19 seen - need to keep an eye on cow 234

Steers 35, 227 and 228 were grazing in the area around ///aimlessly.lilac.rungs near the Shell garage at 09:20 this morning.  Steers 230, 270 and 271 were grazing to their north around ///tipping.uncle.grills. They were all looking well.

Another twelve cows were well spread out munching on leaves amongst the trees in the area around ///javelin.lyrics.dogs fifteen minutes later.  They were all happy and relaxed and appeared to be enjoying their breakfast.  They were soon joined by the initial six steers.

Cow 234 was lying down amongst the trees at ///dairy.allowable.this.  She appeared out of sorts today.  On several occasions, she wandered off and lay down by herself.  She was walking fine, didn't appear to be in any kind of discomfort or distress, and was fully alert.  She never ventured too far from the rest of the herd and didn't appear bothered by my periodic checks on her.  However, I never saw her eating.

The cows started congregating in the area around ///miss.found.juicy just after 10:30 where they started to relax and chew their cud.  Cow 234 wandered off by herself again and lay down around ///growl.leaned.opera.   She lay on her side for a short while.

The other eighteen cows navigated through the mud and water at the west side of James Bond pond, before climbing up to the main path and crossing over into the pasture to the north of the pond.  They quickly spread out and started to graze, getting to around ///income.disco.prom by 11:00.  Cow 234 had joined them and started to eat some heather.  I watched from afar for a while, and everything appeared okay.

Eighteen cows were good today.  We need to keep an eye on cow 234.
