Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Tuesday 26th December - All 19 seen - steer 220 has a small scratch on his rear left foot

Cow 214 and steers 222, 219 and 228 were happily grazing on Sandy Hill in the area around ///armed.suits.school at 10:00 this morning.  Steer 21 and cow 215 were munching on gorse in the bushes close by.  They were all happy and relaxed.

Yearling 270 and cow 940 were munching on grass a bit further east along Sandy Hill around ///lined.spoils.flick.  Steers 20, 30, 230 and 271 plus cow 72 were all deep in the gorse bushes north of where they were grazing, at the top of the slope.  They weren't in any rush to come out, so I wandered into the bushes to check them.  They were all well.

Steers 35, 217, 227 and cow 234 were all munching on heather just along from the Lookout around ///clutter.quits.endings at 11.20.  Steer 33 was deep in a gorse bush beside them.  Youngster 220 came wandering out of the gorse bushes to the north-west about ten minutes later and joined them.  I noticed he had a small red scratch on his rear left foot.  It looked like he'd likely caught it on a bit of gorse or bramble.  It wasn't causing him any issues, though.  Youngster 227 wandered over to say hello before receiving his ear rub.

This group was drawing lots of attention from the many Boxing Day passers-by.  Many people were unaware that there were cattle on Caesars Camp, so were asking me lots of questions, which I was happy to answer.  Fortunately, the cows moved into the area around ///chap.analogy.silently, which was ring-fenced by gorse bushes, and made them less visible.  Youngster 217 was the first to lie down to relax and chew his cud.  I left them shortly after noon.

The cows were all good today.
