Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 16th December - All 19 seen - afternoon check

I was passing by Caesar's Camp this afternoon so thought I'd do an extra check.  The cows hadn't moved far from when I saw them this morning.

Cows 20, 21, 30, 33, 72, 215, 217, 219 and 940 were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud in the area around ///sage.hostels.drags at 14.15.  Steers 35 and 222 were up and about, munching on heather alongside them.

Cow 234 was lying down slightly away from the main group, with youngster 230 for company.  They were around ///grazes.firework.mouse.  They were both resting.  Cow 234 had made a bed out of some bracken.  She seemed okay, was awake and alert, and didn't appear to be in any discomfort.

Cows 214, 220, 227, 228 and 271 were lying down resting in a little group around ///driveways.outs.quicker.  Yearling 270 was lying down close by.  They were all happy and relaxed.

I will do my normal Sunday morning check of the cows tomorrow.  If cow 234 still seems out of sorts, I'll give HIWWT a call.   The cows all appeared okay this afternoon.
