Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sunday 17 December 2023

Sunday 17th December - All 19 seen - cow 234 good today, water reservoir main gate not locking

Cows 20, 21, 30, 35, 72, 215, 219, 230 and 940 were all grazing in the vast gorse bushes just north of the covered reservoir around ///rang.gong.clapper at 09:50 this morning.  They were well spread out and were initially quite hard to find.  After a while, they began to come out and munch on leaves on the periphery, where they could be checked.  They were all happy and relaxed.  Cow 215 was particularly friendly today.

The cows continued to graze along the track to the west side of the covered reservoir, munching on grass and gorse.  I noticed in the distance that the main gate into the area was lying wide open.  I closed the gate over, but it would not lock (it needed lifting to lock properly).  Gate is at ///fills.kinds.harmonica.

The other ten cows were standing in the area around ///parade.puzzle.broth near the Shell garage just before 11:00.  Most of them were relaxing and chewing their cud among the trees.  Cow 234 was much better today.  She was standing beside the other cows and appeared happy and relaxed.  She spent some time cleaning herself before she wandered off to start eating some grass.  After about fifteen minutes the cows all wandered over to the wooded area to the northeast, where they started to eat grass, gorse and heather.  Cow 234 was near the front and she continued to graze happily.  The other cows were all happy and relaxed too.

The cows were all good today.  I suggest we keep an eye on cow 234 for a couple more days, but thankfully she appeared to be back to rights today.
