Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 6th December - All 19 seen

Steers 20 and 30 were still away from the main herd today.  Steer 20 was standing chewing his cud in the sunshine around ///haystack.worms.careless at 12.55 this afternoon.  Steer 30 was lying down, relaxing and chewing his cud close by.  They both seemed absolutely fine.  I didn't want to try and force steer 30 to stand up, as he looked very relaxed.

I then spent over an hour playing hide and seek with another fifteen cows who were all grazing in the thicket around ///blesses.forklift.tram from 13:15.  They were very well spread out, with most hidden in the bushes.  They were also moving around a lot, which added to the fun.  The cows would occasionally poke their heads through the bushes or come out and say hello.  They were enjoying lots of gorse, holly and other leaves.  They were all looking well.

After an exhaustive search of the thicket, I was still missing older steers 33 and 35 who I couldn't find anywhere.  I wandered off in the direction of their favourite Sandy Hill corner at 14:30 and was surprised to see them wandering towards me.  They stopped and said hello, and then followed me back into the wooded area and to the other cows, where they were reunited.

I then returned to steers 20 and 30 who were now buried in the gorse bushes at the side of the main path around ///soups.ramps.should at 14:55.   Both of them were happily eating gorse and were using their horns to pull branches down and break them to get the crunchiest bits.  Hoping they will go and find the other cows soon.

The cows were all good today.
