Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 20th December - All 19 seen

A mixed group of fourteen cows were spread out in the area around ///pelt.sticks.happily just after noon today.  Many were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Others were initially standing, chewing their cud, but soon began to take the weight off their feet.  There were a few stragglers, steers 20, 33, 217 and 230, who were happily grazing in the surrounding area.  Cow 214 was standing a little away from the others, but she'd found a nice sunny spot where she was happily chewing her cud.

Thirty minutes later, cows 30, 35, 72, and 940 had found a lovely spot around ///fellow.chef.adverbs just off the main path along from the Lookout.  They were all lying down, resting and chewing their cud.   They were all enjoying the sunshine, but unlike the others, they were protected from the wind.  This group were all looking good

I went back to the first group, who were now all lying down and relaxing, to see if I had missed steer 21.  He was nowhere to be found.  I went off in a big circle searching for him only to return at 13:15 and there he was 🙂.  He was lying on the opposite side of the track from the other fourteen, but he was happily chewing his cud.  I've no idea where he'd been.

The cows were all good today.
