Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 15th August - All 25 seen

Steers 30 and 271 plus cows 214 and 234 were lying down relaxing in the area around ///folks.corner.relief at 16:50 this afternoon.  After ten minutes, the girls got up and started grazing, after both of them came over to say hello.  While I was giving cow 214 a back rub, I noticed steer 20 grazing in the thicket to the southwest.  The cows were all happy, relaxed and looking well despite a large number of flies.

The other thirteen originals were found in the pasture to the north of James Bond pond around ///demand.lyrics.jeeps at 17:15.  Twelve were lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  It was lovely to see cows 72 and 940 back together.  Older steer 35 was standing chewing his cud.  He looked as if he hadn't long got up.  The cows were all being bothered by lots of flies.  Sadly, the flies were being drawn to the blemish on steer 228's face.  I managed to shoo them away to get a closer look at Gary's face, and there was no significant change since earlier in the week.  This group were all good.

The seven Sussex cattle were found at the far west end of the site, wandering along the sides of the path towards Beacon Hill Road near ///bends.stilted.defeat at 17:40.  They were all enjoying lots of fresh grass.  They were all friendly and stopped to say hello.  Cow 211 was her usual friendly self and gave me a few gentle head rubs and licks before standing and enjoying a back scratch.  All seven had made it to the cattle grid at the far end by 18:00.  The cows were all good.

By 18:15, all but three of the second group had got up and were grazing in the area to the west of where they had been lying earlier.  Steers 21, 33 and 227 were still lying down.  About fifteen minutes later, the girls from the first group were grazing in the pasture near ///spill.energy.pave with the boys grazing on the east side of the covered water reservoir.

The cows were all good today.  They are helping me get my steps in this week, being spread far and wide over the site 😊.
