Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Youngster 227 emerged from the thicket to the side of the cow shed shortly before 15:50 this afternoon. He saw me coming and wandered over to say hello. After receiving a back rub, he walked over to the wooden bridge and took a big drink from the stream. I said goodbye and set off walking up in the direction of the Royal Pavilion. I found steers 20, 33 and 230 spread out eating leaves among the trees. Steer 30 was lying down, relaxing around ///title.vouch.civic. Cow 214 plus steers 228, 270 and 271 were enjoying lots of grass in the surrounding area. Cows 72 and 234 were relaxing in the trees to the northeast. All eleven cows were good today.

The seven Sussex cattle were found in the area around ///secure.infuses.stag at 16:40. Steers 197, 210 and 1626 were all eating in the bushes. Cows 211, 212 and 1396 were out in an open area. They were all friendly and said hello. Steer 1640 had been eating leaves in the bushes to the west, but came over and said hello before enjoying a back scratch. As soon as I was done, he lay down right beside me and started to chew his cud. All seven were all happy and looking well.
Steers 35, 217 and 220 were still together and were found grazing in the area around ///health.builds.dusters at 17:05. Youngster 217 was getting really irritated by the flies today and was regularly shaking his head to try to get rid of them, with little success. He did come over and stand beside me for a while, hoping I might fend them off. The boys were all good. The final four were found grazing together in the area around ///ounce.shell.square at 17:20. Steers 21, 219 and 222 plus cow 940 were all enjoying lots of fresh grass. They were all happy, relaxed and looking well. The cows were all good today.
