Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Thursday 8 August 2024

Thursday 8th August - All 25 seen - the lump on steer 228's face looked different today. Cows 211 and 214 were both good.

The eighteen original Caesar cows were well spread out grazing in the pasture around ///pipe.flip.vows at 17:00 this afternoon. They were all happy and relaxed despite the light rain. They were all friendly as I walked around checking them. Cow 214 was good today and was enjoying lots of fresh grass. She soon stopped eating and came over to say hello. She was happy to get a back rub before going back to grazing. Steer 227 also came and said hello and got a neck and ear rub before crossing the path to start grazing on the slope of Hungry Hill. This group were all looking well.

The lump on youngster 228's face appeared to be different today. It looked like the skin had broken. I've included a couple of photos below, but have others if anyone wants to see them. Gary was good and was happily munching away, enjoying his dinner. The seven Sussex cows were found wandering west along the path on the north side of James Bond pond at 18:00. They had been sheltering in the trees to the east of the pond until recently, so they were not as wet as the first group. They were all enjoying lots of leaves, long grass, and heather. The cows were all happy and relaxed. Cow 211 was good today. She stopped eating and came and said hello, giving me some head rubs followed by numerous licks. She then stood in the middle of the path and enjoyed a long back rub. Her eye was looking much better today. As I was leaving them at around 18:30, most had climbed the bank and had started to graze in the pastures on both sides of ///audible.spearing.lance. They were all looking well.

The cows were all good today.
