Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 20th August - 22 seen

Steers 30 and 227 were lying down just outside the cow shed at 16:40 this afternoon.  Cows 72, 234 and 940, and steers 217 and 271 were lying down and relaxing in the shed while chewing their cud.  Steers 20 and 228 were initially standing, but soon both lay down.  It was nice and cool in the shed, and most of the cows weren't being bothered by too many flies.  For the boys outside, it was a different story.  The cows were all looking well.

A mixed group of thirteen cows were found in the area around ///create.squirted.rams at 17:10.  Steers 33, 220, 222 and 270 were all lying down beside cow 214.  Sussex cows 211, 212 and 1396, along with steers 197, 210, and 1626, were lying down close by.  Steer 35 was grazing off to the east, and Sussex steer 1640 was munching on leaves from the bushes to the west.  After a short while, cow 211 got up and wandered over to say hello and enjoyed a back rub.  The cows were all happy, relaxed and looking well.

I then went off on a long search, trying to find the three missing steers.  I passed by ///quote.grudge.crumb at 18:05 to find the cows from the second group spread out, happily grazing.  The nine cows in the first group had also left the cow shed by 18:35 and were grazing in the area around ///copes.daunted.bolt.

I continued searching for a while longer but couldn't find steers 21, 219 or 230 this evening.  They were obviously off on an adventure together.

The cows that were found were all good today.
