Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 9th September - All 19 seen

Cows 20, 72, 217 and 940 were trying to escape the very warm sunshine by standing against a fence under some trees in the area around ///soak.parks.torn at 09.50 this morning.  Youngsters 228 and 230 were standing close by.  Cows 214, 234 and 270 were standing among the trees.   Before long, all nine cows had moved under the shade of the trees.  I did think that cow 940 was starting to lose some condition - perhaps she's not been eating as much in the warm conditions this week?  Will definitely keep an eye on her next week.

Steers 21, 33, 35 and 271 were all found grazing around ///stand.clinic.twin at 10:35.  They were all happily munching away on the fresh grass in the pasture.

The other six were all found on top of Sandy Hill, just along from their favourite corner, ten minutes later.  Older steer 30 was standing chewing his cud.  Youngsters 219, 220 and 222 were all busy munching on grass.  Steer 227 was having a lie down under the shade of some trees, with cow 215 at his side.  They were all happy and relaxed.  A number of the cows still have many burrs caught in their tails - youngster 222 is particularly bad.  No idea how they get them out.

It was absolutely boiling with very high humidity by 10:45 this morning.  Hopefully the cows will go and find somewhere cool to hide out before it gets any warmer.

The cows were all good today.
