Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 5th September - All 19 seen

A mixed group of fifteen cows were all together enjoying a paddle in James Bond Pond at 16:00 this afternoon.  They were in the same spot as yesterday.  The cows were all relaxing, with most chewing their cud, as they cooled off from the warm sunshine.

Older steers 33 and 35 were in the water munching on the leaves from the trees growing in the western end of the pond.  The cows appear to really enjoy those leaves.  Older steers 20 and 21 were standing together on dry land.  They were both resting and chewing their cud.  After about twenty minutes, older steer 30 came out of the water and joined them.  After another ten minutes, steers 21 and 30 went and joined steers 33 and 35 eating leaves in the water.   Older steer 20 didn’t seem too keen on the water, preferring to stay on dry land throughout.

The rest of the cows started coming out of the water from about 17:00.   They stood with steer 20 and continued to chew their cud before wandering off to start grazing.  The last two out, twenty minutes later, were yearlings 270 and 271.   The original fifteen cows all wandered to the area around ///pinks.blizzard.dote where they were happily grazing.   They were soon joined by the four older steers, who climbed out of the pond and came over to meet them.

The cows were all good today.
