Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Tuesday 12th September - All 19 seen

A mixed group of thirteen cows were found in the area around ///total.climbing.cubed at 16:50 this afternoon.   They were mostly lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Yearling 271 was having a nap with yearling 270 at his side.   Youngster 228 was trying his best to hide in some bracken.  Youngster 220 was having a good scratch against one of the small trees.  Older steer 21 and British White 215 were on the other side of the gorse bushes, grazing together.  Some of the other cows soon got up and cut through the bushes to join them.  I wandered back round to the initial area a short time later to find youngster 217 lying down, fully sprawled out.  Youngsters 228 and 234 were still lying down beside him.  All thirteen cows were happy, relaxed and enjoying the much cooler conditions.

Older cow 72 was happily grazing in the area around ///biked.balconies.dice just along from the Lookout at 17.20.  Steer 33 and cow 940 were lying down, relaxing close by.  Steers 20 and 30 were munching on the fresh grass a little to the south-east of them.  Older steer 35 was happily grazing amongst the heather around ///princely.shall.ducks.  When I returned from checking him, older cow 940 got up and started to graze.   She was looking in better condition today, so perhaps she was just not eating as much in the warmer conditions last week.

The cows were all good today.
