Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

The cows were all found in the woods in the area around ///rock.served.forks at 17:20 this afternoon.  Cows 21, 30, 35, 214, 215, 227 and 940 were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.   The others were standing in among the trees.   They were taking shade from the sun, but were all fairly lethargic and not their usual happy selves.  There were a lot of flies about, and they were constantly trying to get them off their faces by shaking their heads or rubbing their heads against the trees.   Several of the cows had more sticky burs caught on their bodies, tails and heads again today.  Cow 234 was particularly bad again.

After about thirty minutes, the cows started to get up and wander off in the direction of the cow shed, munching on leaves and grass as they went.  They actually wandered past the shed and crossed the bridge into the trees, where several stopped to take a drink from the various streams.   By 18:20 they had all made it to the area around ///neckline.carver.spend where they munched on some fresh grass.  Several of the cows took a big drink from one of the streams in that area.   After a short while, they carried on along the path before cutting into the thicket, where they continued to graze.

The cows were all okay today, but they were being bothered by a lot of flies in the warm and humid conditions.
