Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 13th September - All 19 seen

All nineteen cows were found around their favourite corner on Sandy Hill at 17.10 this afternoon.   Cows 214, 219, 222, 230 and 271 were all happily munching on fresh grass in the area to the east of the corner.  Cows 30, 33, 215, 217, 220, 228 and 940 were all lying down resting on the corner itself.  Older cow 72 was standing beside them, relaxing and chewing her cud.  Steer 35 and yearling 270 were grazing close to them.

Steers 20, 21 and 227 plus cow 234 were all busy grazing in the pasture opposite the corner.   They were all happy and relaxed.

The cows on the corner all started to get up, have a stretch and wander over to join the group of four grazing from about 17:45.  This included steers 219, 222 and 271 who had returned to the group.  They all started to head in a westerly direction along Sandy Hill.

Cow 214 and steer 230 were still munching on grass along to the east of the corner, nearly at Hungry Hill, and had been joined by cow 234.   It appeared they were enjoying the grass too much to notice the others had left them.  Shortly after 18:00 they turned round and started to wander slowly back in the direction of the others.  I'm sure they'd catch up with the others soon enough.

The cows were all good today.
